Clever is a K–12 digital access and data-integration platform that connects district SIS information with learning applications. Secure Sync Rostering keeps student, teacher, section, school, and enrollment data current in participating products, while the Clever Portal and SSO give users one role-based place to open assigned resources.
SIS rosters establish the student, teacher, and class relationships used by receiving applications. District data and IT teams coordinate matching, sharing scope, and account transitions across the portal and roster connections. An account, an application permission, and a class membership are different relationships. Their source, timing, and approval determine what a person can actually do after signing in.
A transfer, departure, or duplicate identity can affect several applications at once. District teams coordinate matching, authorization, update timing, and exceptions across the deployed connections. Sign-in, account creation, and roster sharing are related processes with different purposes; understanding each boundary helps explain why access may succeed in one service and fail in another.

Secure Sync Rostering
- Transfers standardized student, teacher, school, section, and enrollment information from the SIS to authorized applications.

Single sign-on and portal

- Offers a common rostering API and SSO integration model used by participating education applications.
- Supports OneRoster in documented environments and can connect applications through Clever Secure Sync, LMS Connect, and other product-specific methods.
Data control and privacy
- Lets districts select the schools, users, classes, and data fields shared with each application.
- Centralizes connection status and troubleshooting so staff can identify data or access problems without contacting every vendor first.
Identity management
- Clever IDM can create and update accounts, organizational units, and access in Google Workspace, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Combines identity provisioning, rostering, SSO, password services, MFA options, and application analytics according to the selected plan.
