HMH Read 180 is a blended intensive reading-intervention program from HMH. Students rotate among teacher-led instruction, adaptive software, and independent or modeled reading while educators use assessment and progress information to adjust support.
An intervention combines scheduled instruction, software activity, and adult interpretation. Reading teams connect placement, participation, and progress when deciding whether to adjust the level or type of support. The useful history includes the support provided between measures. Student-support staff and teachers coordinate who reviews progress and who changes the instructional plan.

How it supports learning
- Students rotate among teacher-led instruction, adaptive software, and independent or modeled reading while educators use assessment and progress information to adjust support.
- Teachers should use the product within a defined instructional model rather than treat activity completion as evidence of learning.
Implementation and instructional decisions
- Implementation depends on protected instructional time, trained teachers, grouping, suitable texts, and fidelity—not software access alone.
- Districts should confirm accessibility, language support, student-data practices, assignment workflow, reporting, and the role of teacher judgment.
