Overview

HMH Reading Growth Measure is HMH’s computer-adaptive interim reading assessment delivered through the Ed platform. It measures reading performance and growth across administrations and provides domain, skill, and instructional information connected with HMH reporting and curriculum environments.

The reading measure, testing window, and domain context give a growth result meaning. Assessment and literacy teams connect repeated evidence with student rosters and the instruction provided between administrations. A score needs its measure, date, grade or level, and administration context to remain meaningful when reused in a dashboard or support discussion.

Implementation and use

  • Supports rostering, testing windows, accommodations, monitoring, exports, and role-based access according to license.
  • Districts should define the decisions each score may support and avoid treating one measure as a complete picture of learning.

The HMH Growth Measures are a collection of research-based benchmark assessments that provide educators with an overall insight into how their students are performing in their grade level. With the exception of the Growth Measure Reading K–2, which is a fixed-form assessment, all other Growth Measure assessments (Growth Measure Reading, Spanish Reading Growth Measure, and Growth Measure Math) are computer-adaptive tests (CAT) that provide data on students’ reading or math performance on grade-level expectations and growth over time. The HMH Growth Measures offer multiple measures including a Scaled Score and performance levels. As computer-adaptive tests, they must be taken online and cannot be printed for offline testing.
