- 1.23 Enrollment Status Code
- 1.26 Student Exit Reason Code
Valid relationship patterns
| Enrollment relationship | Exit reason | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
20 Secondary, still open | Blank | The non-primary service/enrollment relationship continues. |
20 Secondary, ended | E170 | The non-primary enrollment ended; this does not exit the student from the primary school. |
10 Primary or another factual status | Exit reason appropriate to that relationship | Do not use E170 as a generic withdrawal code. |
Correct the relationship before selecting the exit. If this school was actually responsible for the student’s primary enrollment, status 20 may be the wrong value. If another school remained primary, a transfer, completion, or other primary-exit code is usually wrong for this secondary segment.
Choose the factual correction
| What the evidence shows | Correct status | Correct exit treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Another school retained primary responsibility and this service ended | 20 | Use E170 with the factual exit date. |
| Another school retained primary responsibility and service continues | 20 | Leave exit date and reason blank. |
| This school was actually the primary enrollment | Use the factual primary status | Use the exit reason describing the actual event, if the enrollment ended. |
| Duplicate or obsolete secondary segment exists | Reconcile SIS and CALPADS history | Use the authorized correction transaction; do not disguise it with an unrelated exit code. |
Recommended correction path
- 1
Preserve the rejected segment
Capture school, dates, status, exit reason, and overlapping enrollments.
- 2
Identify the primary school
Confirm which school held primary enrollment responsibility during this period.
- 3
Verify whether this segment ended
Use service, attendance, scheduling, and withdrawal documentation.
- 4
Correct status or exit
Use blank/E170 with status 20, or report the factual nonsecondary relationship.
- 5
Repair source mapping
Correct SIS enrollment responsibility and secondary-exit logic.
- 6
Resubmit and verify
Confirm SENR0302 clears without changing the student’s primary enrollment improperly.
