Fall 1 Errors

SENR errors concern student enrollment, exit, and school-transfer records. They commonly involve enrollment dates, exit dates and reasons, grade levels, enrollment status, school ownership, or overlapping records. Review the student’s complete enrollment history and correct records in chronological order so CALPADS reflects the student’s actual attendance and movement.

SELA errors involve a student’s English Language Acquisition Status and the history of that status. Validations may examine status codes, effective dates, primary language, assessment information, and status transitions. Review the student’s complete language history and ensure new records do not conflict with previously posted SELA information.

SINF errors involve student demographic and identifying information, including names, birth information, gender, race and ethnicity, parent education, and other required fields. Verify the values against authoritative local records and ensure they correspond to the correct SSID. SINF corrections may also resolve related certification or demographic inconsistencies.

SERV replaced the retired Student Special Education Services (SSRV) file in September 2023. Some CALPADS error descriptions, reports, FAQs, or field labels may still use legacy SSRV terminology. This guide applies the current Version 18 SERV layout.

SPRG errors involve a student’s participation in programs such as special education, homeless services, foster youth programs, Title I, or other reportable services. Validations may examine program codes, membership dates, eligibility, and school relationships. Review the full participation history and correct overlapping, missing, or inconsistent program records.

Fall 1 certification errors identify issues that may prevent an LEA from certifying its Fall 1 submission. These validations compare enrollment, demographic, program, language, special education, and related data for accuracy and completeness. Review the affected certification report, verify the underlying records, and correct or explain significant discrepancies before certification.
