Determine which value is wrong
| What the historical record shows | Correction | Do not |
|---|---|---|
| The student legitimately graduated under the CAHSEE-exemption pathway, but the exit year was mistyped. | Correct field 1.25 to the documented historical graduation/exit date. | Move the date merely to bypass the validation without supporting records. |
The exit date is accurate, but 108 was selected incorrectly. | Replace field 1.27 with the completion status supported by the diploma and cumulative record. | Assume every CAHSEE-era graduate was exempt. |
| The record describes a current or recent graduate. | Use the current completion status that accurately describes the outcome. | Use retired code 108 for a modern graduation. |
| The evidence is incomplete or conflicting. | Review the transcript, diploma, cumulative file, graduation list, and archived CAHSEE documentation before changing either field. | Guess from the student’s cohort year alone. |
Do not confuse three historical completion codes
104— completed local requirements but did not pass CAHSEE.106— graduated using CAHSEE modifications and a waiver.108— graduated using a CAHSEE exemption.
These retired statuses describe different historical outcomes. Select one only when the student-level record specifically supports that pathway.
Recommended correction path
- 1
Confirm this is a historical graduate
Verify that the record belongs to the CAHSEE era rather than a current graduating student.
- 2
Verify the exit date
Compare field 1.25 with the transcript, diploma date, cumulative file, and archived graduation list.
- 3
Verify the exemption
Confirm that the student was actually reported as a CAHSEE-exempt graduate—not merely a student who did not pass the examination.
- 4
Correct the unsupported value
Change the exit date or completion status according to the historical evidence.
- 5
Repair the source record
Update the SIS or historical conversion mapping so the retired code is not assigned to current graduates.
- 6
Resubmit and verify
Confirm SENR0203 clears while the student’s documented completion history remains intact.
