SENR0192: Invalid District of Geographic Residence

Field 1.31 does not identify a valid district for the reported academic year and enrollment period. Confirm where the student or parent or guardian actually resides, then submit the corresponding seven-digit County–District code for an eligible district.

Official validation

District of Geographic Residence must contain a valid seven-digit County–District code representing an active, open district that is not a charter school, nonpublic school, or county office of education in the academic year specified.

  • 1.07 — Academic Year ID
  • 1.25 — Enrollment Exit Date
  • 1.31 — District of Geographic Residence
  • Severity: Fatal
  • Type: Input Validation

Use the district tied to residence

Required meaning

Length
Exactly seven digits
Identifier
County–District code
Entity
Unified, elementary, or high school district
Timing
Valid for the reported academic year and enrollment period

Excluded or mistaken values

  • A seven-digit School code
  • A full 14-digit CDS code
  • A charter-school identifier
  • A nonpublic-school identifier
  • A county-office-of-education code
  • The reporting LEA copied without residence evidence

Diagnose the rejected value

  • Residence evidence: confirm the relevant address and the district boundary applicable to that address and reporting period.
  • Entity type: verify that the identifier belongs to an eligible district rather than a school, charter, nonpublic school, or county office.
  • Effective dates: compare the district’s open or closed status with Academic Year ID and Enrollment Exit Date.
  • Identifier structure: confirm that field 1.31 contains the seven-digit County–District portion and preserves leading zeros.
  • System mapping: determine whether the SIS or extract substituted the school code, reporting LEA, authorizer, local boundary code, or another enrollment segment.

Recommended resolution

  1. Preserve the rejected transaction

Capture the submission ID, SSID, school, Academic Year ID, Enrollment Exit Date, raw row, and exact value transmitted in field 1.31.

  2. Confirm the student’s geographic residence

Use the authoritative address and local residency documentation applicable to the enrollment period; resolve conflicting or incomplete evidence through the LEA’s established process.

  3. Identify the responsible district

Use an authoritative district directory or boundary resource to determine the unified, elementary, or high school district associated with that residence.

  4. Verify entity type and effective dates

Confirm that the seven-digit code represents an eligible district and was active for the reported academic year and enrollment chronology.

  5. Correct the authoritative source

Update the appropriate SIS residence-district field, preserving the complete seven-digit County–District code and any leading zero.

  6. Repair shared logic when necessary

If the SIS is correct, fix the boundary crosswalk, entity-type mapping, enrollment-segment selection, truncation, or extraction rule that created the invalid value.

  7. Regenerate and inspect

Confirm fields 1.07, 1.25, and 1.31 describe a consistent academic year, enrollment period, and residence district.

  8. Submit and verify

Confirm SENR0192 clears and CALPADS displays the supported District of Geographic Residence.

  9. Review the affected population

Check other students sharing the same address boundary, district code, school, import, crosswalk, or extraction rule.

Close only after verification

  • The residence district is supported by the student’s applicable address and local residency determination.
  • Field 1.31 contains the correct seven-digit County–District code.
  • The code represents an eligible district for the academic year and enrollment period.
  • The SIS, extract, and accepted CALPADS record agree.
  • Any shared boundary or mapping defect has been checked across other affected records.
