Fields validated

  • 12.13 ELAS Code
  • 12.14 ELAS Start Date

A new status needs both a permitted transition and a date later than the preceding event.

Read the hierarchy before changing the date

Starting pointSupported next outcomeWhat follows
TBDEO, IFEP, or ELEO/IFEP are initial outcomes; EL may later become RFEP
ELRFEP after documented reclassificationRFEP history is preserved
EL at qualifying age/contextADEL under current rulesAge-based reporting transition, not initial classification

A later date does not make an invalid transition valid. Never move a date forward merely to get past the sequence check; verify the status pathway and the event itself.

Recommended correction path

  1. 1

    Build the complete timeline

List every ODS ELAS code and start date in order, then place the proposed event on it.

  2. 2

    Verify the transition

Check current valid-code combinations and determine whether the submitted status may follow the existing one.

  3. 3

    Verify the event date

Use initial assessment, reclassification, ADEL, or correction documentation.

  4. 4

    Repair the correct point

Correct the proposed row, SIS history, or—through the appropriate owner—an earlier inaccurate ODS record. Avoid compensating entries.

  5. 5

    Confirm downstream history

Review TOMS, assessment eligibility, services, and CALPADS reports after acceptance.
