What CALPADS is rejecting

If ELAS code being submitted equals ELAS code in ODS, then English Language Acquisition Status (ELAS) Start Dates must match.

Enrollment changes school ownership; they do not reset ELAS history. Align the receiving SIS with accurate ODS history rather than manufacturing a new beginning date.

    Record its code, start date, and Reporting LEA.

    Compare authoritative evidence

    Use the original survey, initial assessment, or reclassification record to establish which date is correct.

    Preserve accurate history

    If ODS is correct, update the local SIS/export to use that original date.

    Correct inaccurate history properly

    Coordinate with the owning LEA or CALPADS Support and use a Correction Reason Code when required.

    Resubmit and audit transfers

    Check other incoming students for locally reset ELAS dates.
