CALPADS rule: If Student Met All UC/CSU Requirements Indicator is populated, Student School Completion Status must equal 100, 106, or 108.

Version 18 context: Completion statuses 106 and 108 are retired CAHSEE-era graduate codes. A current standard-diploma graduate ordinarily uses 100.

Severity: Fatal   Type: Input Validation

Fields validated:

  • 1.27 Student School Completion Status
  • 1.29 Student Met All UC/CSU Requirements Indicator

N is still a populated value. It means an eligible graduate was reviewed and did not meet the applicable minimum requirements. It does not mean “not yet reviewed,” “not graduating,” “not college bound,” or “unknown.” For a student who is not an eligible graduate, field 1.29 should be blank.

What field 1.29 actually reports

QuestionWhat it establishesWhat it does not establish
Did the student earn a standard diploma?Completion Status 100 when supported by the graduation record.Automatic completion of minimum UC/CSU requirements.
Did the graduate meet the applicable UC or CSU minimum requirements? The LEA’s supported Y/N determination after transcript review.Guaranteed admission to a university, campus, or major.
Did the student complete A–G coursework?A major component of the review: approved courses, subject pattern, grades, and permitted alternatives.Permission to populate field 1.29 before an eligible graduation outcome exists.
Was the student admitted to a college?A decision made by the college or university.A substitute for the CALPADS graduate-status and transcript determination.

What commonly produces SENR0470

  • The SIS defaulted every senior or Grade 12 student to N.
  • A counseling-system college-readiness field was mapped to field 1.29 before graduation.
  • The diploma was awarded, but Completion Status was omitted or miscoded.
  • The student earned a certificate or equivalency credential rather than a standard diploma.
  • An indicator from a prior or anticipated graduation event was carried onto the wrong enrollment segment.
  • A historical CAHSEE-era graduate record was converted to a current non-graduate status without reconciling connected fields.

Recommended correction path

  1. 1

    Preserve the rejected pair

Capture fields 1.27 and 1.29 with SSID, school, exit date, and exit reason.

  2. 2

    Verify the credential

Use the diploma, transcript, graduation list, and cumulative record.

  3. 3

    Confirm eligible graduate status

Use 100 for a supported current standard diploma; retain 106/108 only for appropriate historical records.

  4. 4

    Verify the transcript determination

For an eligible graduate, confirm the authorized review supports Y or N.

  5. 5

    Blank the indicator when inapplicable

Do not use N as a placeholder for a nongraduate or unresolved case.

  6. 6

    Correct source and mapping

Repair SIS defaults, graduation processing, or counseling-system integration.

  7. 7

    Resubmit and verify

Confirm SENR0470 clears and review other records generated by the same rule.
