What CALPADS is rejecting

If Special Education Program Setting Code equals 201, 203, or 204, then the Student Age must be at least 3 years as of Census Day, but less than 6 years as of September 1 of the same Academic Year.

Use the correct date for each age boundary

Lower boundary: The student must be age 3 or older on Fall 1 Census Day.

Upper boundary: The student must be younger than age 6 on September 1 of the same academic year.

Do not calculate both boundaries using Census Day. That approach applies the pre-Version 18 interpretation and can produce an incorrect result for a student whose sixth birthday falls between September 1 and Census Day.

Four-part age-and-setting check

2. Test the upper boundary Calculate completed age on September 1 of the same academic year. The student must be younger than 6. Do not use Census Day for the maximum-age test.
3. Test the coded setting PLAN 23.20 equals 201, 203, or 204. Age compatibility does not prove that the setting code is factually correct.
4. Test the snapshot relationships The evaluated SWDS and PLAN records must relate to a student enrolled at the same Reporting LEA on Census Day. A posted transaction can still fail when the Fall 1 snapshot relationships do not align.
