Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM, formerly VMware AirWatch, is a unified endpoint management platform for enrolling, configuring, securing, and supporting devices across multiple operating systems. District technology teams can use it to apply policies, distribute applications and content, maintain inventory, and monitor whether endpoints meet organizational requirements.
Device policies depend on organizational groups, user identity, and hardware status. IT staff coordinate those relationships as students and employees receive, return, or replace district equipment. Configuration and assignment are related but different records. Device administrators coordinate those sources with identity and inventory owners when school or user circumstances change.

Unified endpoint management
- Manages supported mobile devices, desktops, rugged devices, and other endpoints from a common administrative platform.
- Supports organization groups, assignment groups, and role-based administration for distributed operations.
Enrollment and configuration
- Provides automated, staged, user-driven, and platform-specific enrollment options.
- Deploys profiles, certificates, restrictions, Wi-Fi, VPN, email, and other settings according to ownership and use case.
Application and content delivery
- Distributes public, purchased, internal, and web applications to eligible devices and users.
- Supports managed application configuration, an application catalog, and controlled access to organizational content.
Compliance and access
- Evaluates device posture against configured compliance rules and can trigger remediation or access actions.
- Works with identity and access services to protect applications and data when districts deploy the broader Workspace ONE platform.
Inventory and support
- Reports device, operating-system, application, security, and compliance information.
- Provides remote commands and support capabilities appropriate to each managed platform.
