SDLA Flowchart: validate the reporting chain from the top
Recommended correction path
- 1
Confirm which reporting cycle you intended
Identify the current Fall 2 submission and the schedule population selected for export.
- 2
Inspect Academic Year ID
Confirm the value is a consecutive two-year span in CCYY-CCYY format and is not future-dated for the submission.
- 3
Compare every prerequisite
Match the year across SENR enrollment, SDEM/SASS staff records, CRSE sections, and SCSE rows.
- 4
Trace the rollover logic
Check the SIS school-year setting, term dates, scheduling year, report parameters, and state-reporting configuration.
- 5
Correct the authoritative configuration
Repair the year derivation or export selection rather than replacing the year in a finished text file.
- 6
Regenerate and regression-check
Confirm acceptance and inspect all rows produced by the same school, calendar, term, or extract setup.
Why SCSE volume grows so quickly
A school may have only dozens or hundreds of course sections, but every student-to-section relationship becomes its own SCSE record. The reporting chain must remain intact at every scale.
Golden State Elementary
A self-contained elementary model creates a short, easy-to-see reporting chain.
SDEM12 records
One administrator, ten teachers, and one counselor.
SASS12 records
One assignment record for each staff member in this baseline scenario.
CRSE10 records
Ten self-contained teachers each connect to one course section.
SCSE300 records
Three hundred students each connect to one reported section.
Illustrative scenario: These counts explain record relationships and are not a rule for every school.
Sierra Vista Middle School
A departmentalized middle school adds multiple assignments, periods, and student-section connections.
SDEM48 records
Administrators, counselors, teachers, and instructional support staff.
SASS52 records
Several employees serve in more than one school or job classification.
CRSE210 records
Departmentalized teachers connect to multiple periods and course sections.
SCSE4,800 records
Eight hundred students averaging six reported sections each.
Illustrative scenario: These counts explain record relationships and are not a rule for every school.
Pacific Crest High School
A comprehensive high school multiplies courses, terms, teachers, sections, and student schedules.
SDEM125 records
Teachers, administrators, counselors, and other reportable staff.
SASS126 records
One administrator also teaches, producing an additional classification record.
CRSE551 records
A broad master schedule includes core, elective, CTE, AP, and support sections.
SCSE16,200 records
Student schedules expand the section structure into thousands of enrollments.
Illustrative scenario: These counts explain record relationships and are not a rule for every school.
2026-27 Fall 2 calendar
Before closing the correction
- Confirm the supporting SENR enrollment and accepted CRSE section.
- Confirm the SCSE row represents the student's actual schedule.
- Review other records produced by the same school, year, or extract mapping.
