Understanding the Error: The English Language Acquisition Status (ELAS) Start Date is before the enrollment start date or after the exit date, except when the start date is between July 1 and August 31 (inclusive) of the current academic year for all ELAS codes except RFEP. Additionally, for incoming first-time students eligible for Initial ELPAC testing the summer before enrollment, the ELAS code TBD can have a ELAS Start Date between July 1 and August 31 of that academic year, but the ELAS Start Date cannot be later than the current system date when the record is posted. Suggested Resolution: 1) Often this error can be ignored. They system will only maintain one ELAS record per ELAS status, regardless of the LEA associated with the record. If the existing data on file in CALPADS is accurate this error may be disregarded. OR 2) Compare the Enrollment History data contained in your Local SIS vs CALPADS and make appropriate corrections in CALPADS if discrepancies exist.
