SENR0014: Enrollment Start Date is more than six months in the future
Determine whether field 1.22 contains an inaccurate date or an accurate future enrollment submitted before CALPADS permits it. Correct the source only when the date is wrong; otherwise, retain the factual date and hold the transaction until it enters the submission window.
Official validation
Enrollment Start Date must be less than or equal to the current date plus six months.
- Field validated: 1.22 — Enrollment Start Date
- Severity: Fatal
- Type: Input Validation
For this check, evaluate the submitted date against the date CALPADS processes the record. A future date is not automatically incorrect: it may represent a legitimate pre-enrollment.
Choose the evidence-supported response
The date is inaccurate
Enrollment documents, the school calendar, attendance evidence, or the SIS record establish a different start date.
Action: Correct the authoritative enrollment record, regenerate the SENR transaction, and inspect field 1.22 before resubmission.
The date is accurate but premature
The student has a supported future start date, but it is more than six months beyond the CALPADS processing date.
Action: Keep the factual SIS date and exclude or hold the CALPADS transaction in a monitored queue until it becomes eligible.
Trace the date to its source
- Wrong academic year: the month and day appear plausible, but rollover, copy-forward, or manual entry placed the enrollment one year ahead.
- Early pre-enrollment: the SIS correctly contains a future cohort before its records are eligible for CALPADS submission.
- Wrong enrollment selected: the extract used a later enrollment period instead of the transaction staff intended to submit.
- Date transformation: an interface, report, or mapping changed the correct SIS value during extraction.
- Unconfirmed enrollment: an inquiry, application, or tentative placement was treated as a confirmed enrollment contrary to local policy.
Recommended resolution
Preserve the rejected transaction
Record the submission ID, processing date, SSID, school, raw SENR row, and exact value submitted in field 1.22.
Confirm the intended enrollment
Match the student, school, academic year, grade, enrollment status, and enrollment period to the supporting record.
Establish the accurate start date
Compare the SIS with registration, placement, transfer, school-calendar, and actual or expected-attendance evidence.
Compare it with the six-month window
Use the date CALPADS processed the transaction. Treat dates near a month-end boundary carefully and preserve any unexpected system result.
Correct the first inaccurate source
If the date is wrong, repair the SIS enrollment, rollover process, import, report, or interface that introduced the error.
Hold an accurate premature transaction
If the date is correct but outside the window, retain it in the SIS, assign an owner and eligibility date, and prevent premature re-extraction.
Regenerate and verify
Inspect field 1.22, resubmit when eligible, confirm SENR0014 clears, and verify that the accepted enrollment history still reflects the actual event.
Close only after verification
- The accepted or queued date remains the evidence-supported Enrollment Start Date.
- The SIS and generated SENR value agree.
- An accurate held transaction has an owner and a monitored resubmission date.
- The source or extraction defect will not recreate the error for this student or a larger cohort.
- Staff confirm attendance or follow the supported no-show or cancellation process when the start date arrives.
