Recommended correction path

  1. 1

    Preserve the rejected SENR row

Save the submission ID, SSID, Reporting LEA, School of Attendance, School of Attendance NPS, Enrollment Start Date, and source-system placement record.

  2. 2

Confirm that the placement is an NPS

Review the IEP placement documentation, agreement, and special-education record. An NPS is a private, nonsectarian school certified by CDE; it is not a charter school or an ordinary private-school enrollment.

  3. 3

    Find the exact campus

Search the California School Directory using the Nonpublic, Nonsectarian Schools option. Match the official school name, physical location, and seven-digit code to the placement documentation.

  4. 4

Check status for the applicable date

Determine whether that campus was certified and open on the Enrollment Start Date. A school that is valid today may not have been valid for the submitted date, and a current closure does not establish its historical status.

  5. 5

    Resolve the supported code

If the NPS was certified for the placement date, report its exact code. If the NPS was no longer certified, apply the official CALPADS guidance—including code 9999999 only when its stated conditions are satisfied. Do not use 9999999 as a generic unknown-school value.

  6. 6

Correct the authoritative source and crosswalk

Update the SIS, special-education system, or controlled NPS crosswalk that supplied the value. Preserve the placement evidence and effective dates so the error does not recur.

  7. 7

    Reprocess and verify

Submit a small corrected SENR record, confirm acceptance under the intended student and enrollment, and review other records produced by the same NPS mapping.

Before closing the correction

  • Confirm the student was actually placed at the identified NPS.
  • Confirm the seven-digit code identifies the exact campus.
  • Confirm certification or closure status for the Enrollment Start Date.
  • Use 9999999 only when the official conditions are satisfied.
  • Review other enrollments produced by the same NPS crosswalk.
