SINC0558: Invalid School of Assignment

The SINC School of Assignment may not use Private School Group code 0000002.

A little CALPADS humor—because complete incident data should still SINC in.

Recommended correction path

  1. 1

Confirm the student and incident location

Verify the SSID, responsible LEA, school assignment, and incident record before changing the CDS value.

  2. 2

    Identify the reportable public-school code

Use the current CALPADS file specifications and CDS/reporting relationships to determine the permitted School of Assignment.

  3. 3

Do not substitute a convenient district code

The reporting value must reflect the applicable CALPADS rule; avoid using a central-office or arbitrary school code merely to pass validation.

  4. 4

    Repair the school crosswalk

Correct the SIS or behavior-system mapping that translated the school to 0000002, then review other affected incident rows.

  5. 5

    Resubmit and verify ownership

Confirm SINC posts for the intended school and that related SIRS/SOFF records use the same operational key.

Systems opportunity

If discipline information is being reconstructed manually, review SDLA’s behavior management systems. A well-configured source system should preserve the incident, students, offenses, results, dates, identifiers, and supports as one auditable event.
