KiDS, the Kern Integrated Data System, is a data warehouse and analytics platform developed by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools. The county-developed regional service combines participating agencies’ student and operational information for reporting, early warning, and planning.
The county-developed service connects participating agencies’ information for shared analysis. Local data stewards and county staff coordinate source definitions, student matching, access, and the timing of updated records. The same label can describe different measures or populations in different systems. Source definitions and reporting dates preserve the meaning of an apparent trend or comparison.
A shared analytical record influences program review and leadership decisions even though corrections often belong in the source system. Data teams coordinate refresh schedules, access, definitions, and a path for resolving discrepancies. Readers need to understand which data is represented, how current it is, and what an aggregate or student-level view can legitimately explain.
