SDLA Flowchart: debug the reporting chain from the top

1 - Instructional reality and authoritative local sourcesConfirm the real course, staff, section, term, delivery model, and program context with the people responsible for those facts.
2 - SDEM identity prerequisiteEvery reported educator must have the correct accepted staff identity and employment history.
3 - SASS assignment prerequisiteConfirm the supported staff assignment at the applicable school and academic year before debugging CRSE repeatedly.
4 - CRSE course-section relationshipValidate the named fields, identifiers, code combinations, and local-to-state course mapping.
5 - SCSE and Fall 2 reviewConfirm student-section connections and reconcile course, staff-assignment, and program reports.

Recommended correction path

  1. 1

    Preserve the rejected row

Capture the submission ID, row number, export date, and exact delimited row before editing.

  2. 2

    Compare the current layout

Check all 36 Version 17.23 CRSE fields, column order, maximum lengths, data types, delimiters, and encoding against the current specifications.

  3. 3

    Locate the first structural break

A shifted delimiter or malformed earlier value can make a later field appear wrong. Compare with a correctly accepted row.

  4. 4

    Trace the export source

Identify the SIS field, course-catalog value, integration, or report definition that produced the bad output.

  5. 5

    Correct the repeatable rule

Repair the source or extract mapping instead of hand-editing one upload row.

  6. 6

    Regenerate and regression-check

Submit a scoped file, confirm acceptance, and inspect other records produced by the same rule.

2026-27 Fall 2 calendar

Before Census DayConfirm the SIS Version 18.0 release and reconcile SDEM, SASS, CRSE, and SCSE dependencies.
Fall 2 Census Day and opening of the official submission window.
CDE's recommended date for reaching zero Fall 2 errors.
Certification deadline. Fall 2 has no amendment window.

Before closing the correction

  • Confirm the authoritative local source supports the corrected values.
  • Confirm accepted SDEM and SASS prerequisites for every reported educator.
  • Review CRSE acceptance and related SCSE, staff-assignment, and course reports.
  • Check other records produced by the same course-catalog or extract rule.
