Transactional acceptance is not the same as certification coherence. The snapshot is testing whether related records, effective dates and populations form one defensible Fall 2 account.

Labels are sequence positions—not family hierarchy
“Guardian 1” and “Guardian 2” do not establish gender, custody, legal authority, importance or family structure. Modern families include many valid combinations. An entirely blank optional guardian block may be acceptable; once a block is populated, its required components must be internally complete.
Use authorized family information and exercise intellectual humility. Never copy one adult into another position or infer a relationship to fill a blank.

Capture revision, school, year, identifiers, counts and relevant detail rows.

Classify the discrepancy
Separate a true zero or legitimate exception from a missing, stale, duplicated, mis-keyed or out-of-period record.

Trace all companion records
Compare shared identifiers, effective dates, Census Day status and the complete history—not only the last upload.

Verify authoritative evidence
Use authorized enrollment and family-information records. Record what was checked and who confirmed it.

Apply only the supported correction
Complete the supported Guardian 1 block or clear an optional block that was populated unintentionally. Repair repeatable source mappings where applicable.

Regenerate and reconcile
Wait for processing, rebuild the Fall 2 snapshot, confirm the error clears, and compare downstream counts and detail reports.
Retained official CALPADS guidance
Understanding the Error: All Parent Guardian 1 fields (First Name, Last Name, or Highest Education Level Code) must be populated in the most recent SINF overlapping Census Day if the SENR record for the student on Census Day has an Enrollment Status code = 10 or 30 and Exit Reason does not equal = N470 (NoShow). Suggested resolution: 1) Verify that data is provided in the submission for Guardian 1 First Name, Guardian 1 Last Name and Parent Guardian Highest Education Level Code fields. OR 2) If the data for Guardian 1 First Name, Guardian 1 Last Name, or Parent/Guardian Highest Education Level Code is unknown, do not submit any data for any of the three fields. All three fields must either be NULL or all must be populated.
