Do not truncate a value blindly. First determine whether the source value is wrong, the wrong code was exported, a spreadsheet reformatted it, or a delimiter shifted the row.

    Capture the rejected field and raw value

    Inspect the original delimited row rather than relying only on a spreadsheet view.

    Compare it with Version 18

    Confirm the field’s type, maximum length, required format, and conditional-use rule.

    Verify the authoritative source

    Check the SIS or special education data system, PLAN record, current code set, and organization identifier as appropriate.

    Repair the source or export mapping

    Correct padding, formatting, code translation, or column placement; do not make a one-row cosmetic edit that will recur.

  5. 5

    Resubmit and audit peers

    Confirm the error clears and check other records produced by the same mapping.
