SINC0498: Incident Occurrence Date Is in the Future

CALPADS cannot accept an incident dated after the current system date.

The incident date must come from this timeline—not the next one.

Focus fields: Incident Occurrence Date (18.14)

Recommended correction path

  1. 1

    Confirm the actual incident date

Compare the discipline-system record with the original incident report, administrator findings, and supporting documentation.

  2. 2

    Check date conversion

Look for transposed month/day values, an incorrect year, a future default date, or an SIS export-format problem.

  3. 3

    Do not backdate for convenience

Use the date the incident actually occurred—not the hearing, entry, suspension, or upload date—unless current CALPADS specifications define otherwise.

  4. 4

    Correct the source system

Repair the incident in the behavior-management system or SIS so the incorrect date is not regenerated.

  5. 5

Rebuild and reconcile the incident set

Submit SINC first, followed by matching SIRS and SOFF files when applicable, and confirm the shared Incident Local ID and date are consistent.

Systems opportunity

If discipline information is being reconstructed manually, review SDLA’s behavior management systems. A well-configured source system should preserve the incident, students, offenses, results, dates, identifiers, and supports as one auditable event.
