Overview

Overview

SmartDeploy is a Windows imaging, provisioning, and endpoint-management product owned by PDQ. District technology teams can use it to create a hardware-independent Windows image, combine it with model-specific driver packages, and deploy operating systems, applications, patches, scripts, and updates to computers on campus or at remote locations.

An image and driver package establish a machine’s starting configuration. IT staff coordinate deployment versions, device identity, and application readiness before equipment returns to student or employee use.

Features

Features

Hardware-independent imaging

  • Maintains a common Windows image that can be applied across supported computer makes and models.
  • Separates the operating-system layer from device drivers and applications to reduce image maintenance.

Driver management

  • Uses model-specific Platform Packs to supply tested drivers during deployment.
  • Reduces the need for district staff to build and maintain separate driver repositories for each supported model.

Flexible deployment

  • Delivers images and tasks through local infrastructure, boot media, or cloud-connected workflows.
  • Supports new-device setup, replacements, lab refreshes, operating-system migrations, and remote devices.

Application and patch delivery

  • Installs and updates applications, scripts, tasks, drivers, and Windows components on managed endpoints.
  • Uses Application Packs and district-created packages for repeatable software deployment.

Lifecycle and recovery

  • Supports reimaging and break-fix workflows while preserving other layers or user information when the chosen process allows it.
  • Provides inventory, reporting, and deployment status needed to identify incomplete or failed work.
