Heartland Mosaic is a cloud K–12 nutrition-management platform with point-of-sale and back-of-house tools. Districts use it to serve meals, maintain student accounts and eligibility, count reimbursable meals, process applications, plan menus, manage production and inventory, and prepare claims and reports.
A cafeteria transaction connects a student account, a meal category, a service date, and money collected. Nutrition-office reconciliation depends on keeping those relationships consistent across serving sites. Eligibility, a prepaid balance, a meal served, and a financial deposit are different records. Common student references and service dates help staff reconcile them without treating the entries as interchangeable.
Enrollment changes, account adjustments, and reporting periods require coordinated handling across schools. Nutrition, student-data, and finance owners agree on source authority and reconciliation, including how local service counts relate to program reporting. Understanding the environment means tracing a student or household record through meal service and the separate accounting and administrative processes that follow.
