Veeam Data Platform
Overview
- Overview
-
Veeam Data Platform is a backup, replication, recovery, monitoring, and data-resilience platform for virtual machines, physical systems, cloud services, containers, and business applications. Districts use Veeam to create protected copies, meet retention requirements, restore files or systems, replicate critical workloads, and recover from outages or ransomware.
A recoverable system needs more than a retained file: application state, dependencies, and recovery timing matter. IT teams coordinate protection and testing with the departments that depend on those services. Copies must retain the identity, time, and application context needed for recovery. The availability of a recovery point and the readiness of a service are different operating questions.
Recovery decisions involve both technical order and district priorities. Technology and departmental leaders coordinate acceptable data gaps, service dependencies, authorized access, and restore testing. Understanding the platform means knowing what is protected, which recovery points are usable, and how restored systems will be reconciled with services that continued to change during the disruption.
Features
- Features
-
Workload protection
- Backs up supported virtual, physical, cloud, application, and container workloads using policy-based repositories and retention.
- Coverage depends on the licensed Veeam products and infrastructure.
Recovery and replication
- Supports granular restore, full-system recovery, instant recovery, replication, and orchestration according to edition and workload.
- Districts should test recoveries instead of treating successful backup jobs as proof of recoverability.
Resilience and oversight
- Provides monitoring, reporting, verification, encryption, immutability, and ransomware-resilience capabilities according to configuration.
- Separate credentials and protected recovery infrastructure reduce the risk that an attacker can destroy both production and backups.
