SDLA Quick Fix Idea · Edpuzzle
An Edpuzzle Assignment Is Missing for One Student
Use the student's normal class-entry path, confirm the student is using the correct school identity, and check roster membership before creating another assignment.
Teacher
My Edpuzzle assignment is working for most of the class, but one student cannot find it—or Edpuzzle is asking the student for a class code. How can I fix this without posting another copy?
Follow these checks in order. Stop when the student can see and open the original assignment.
-
1
Identify the class-entry path
Ask the student to use the same path the rest of the class uses. For an LMS-connected class, begin with the assignment inside Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, Microsoft Teams, Clever, ClassLink, or the district's assigned platform—not with a search result or an old bookmark.
-
2
Confirm the student's school identity
Have the student check the account shown in the browser or sign-in window. For a Google Classroom-connected class, the student must use the same school email address connected to Google Classroom. If the wrong account is shown, sign out of Edpuzzle and relaunch the assignment using the correct district account.
-
3
Use the assignment link for the correct class
An Edpuzzle lesson can have a different assignment link for each class. Reopen the assignment from the correct course or section instead of reusing a link copied from another class.
-
4
Check for a recent roster change
If the student joined Google Classroom after the class was connected to Edpuzzle, reimport or update the class roster in Edpuzzle. Then have the student reopen the original assignment from Google Classroom.
-
5
Verify before creating anything new
Ask the affected student to open the original assignment and confirm that the correct name, class, and video lesson appear. Avoid duplicating the assignment unless your local support team determines that the original posting is damaged.
What the symptom may be telling you
Edpuzzle asks for a class codeThe student may be entering outside the connected LMS or using a different account. LMS-integrated students normally begin from the LMS assignment.
“You are not in this class”Check the student's signed-in email and whether the student was added after the class was imported.
Only one student is affectedCheck identity, roster membership, and the student's launch path before changing the assignment for everyone.
No students can see itReturn to the teacher's assignment settings and confirm it was assigned or published to the intended class. That is a class-level posting issue.
Copy-and-paste directions for the student
Please sign out of Edpuzzle, return to our class in [Google Classroom / Canvas / Schoology / Clever / ClassLink], and open the Edpuzzle assignment from the original class posting. When asked to sign in, use your district school account. Do not create a new Edpuzzle account or join with a different class code. If the assignment still does not appear, send me a screenshot of the message without including your password.
If the assignment is still missing
Send your instructional technology or district support team:
- the course or section name;
- the Edpuzzle assignment title;
- the affected student's district email address through an approved support channel;
- the system used to open the assignment; and
- a screenshot of the error with unrelated student information hidden.
Never request or send the student's password.
