Images Are Missing in Boom Cards

Use Boom Learning's image test to separate a deck problem from browser or school-network filtering.

Teacher

Boom Cards opens, but pictures, backgrounds, or other deck images appear blank or broken on student devices.

Quick Fix

First, identify the scope. Note whether one image, one deck, one device, or every Boom image is affected. This distinction tells support whether to investigate the deck, browser, device, or network.

Follow these steps in order.

  1. Refresh one test device

Refresh the deck once, then close and reopen the browser if the image remains missing. Avoid having the entire class reload repeatedly.

  2. Run Boom Learning's image test

Open Boom Learning Help (opens in a new tab) and find “Can you see this image?” If the Boom logo is also missing, capture that result for IT.

  3. Check browser site permissions

Confirm that the browser is allowed to display images for Boom Learning. If an ad blocker or privacy extension is district-approved and active, pause it only for the Boom site and test again.

  4. Compare a second supported browser or device

Open the same deck on another district-supported browser or school device using the same network. Record whether the Boom image test and deck images work there.

  5. Escalate a network-wide block

If the test image fails on multiple devices, ask IT to review Boom Learning's current allowlist and network security settings. Do not change firewall, VPN, or inspection settings yourself.

The official test image fails, images are missing across multiple decks or devices, or success changes by network. Filtering, VPN, SSL inspection, and domain allowlisting require authorized IT review.
