SDLA Quick Fix · Boom Cards

A Student Cannot Sign In to Boom Cards

Match the sign-in button to the way the classroom was created, then verify the student's exact username or external school account.

Teacher

A student sees “Please wait for your teacher to finish setup,” “User not found,” an incorrect-password message, or a sign-in button that does nothing.

Quick Fix

First, identify the classroom type. Check whether the class was created in Boom or imported from Google Classroom, Clever, ClassLink, Canvas, or another approved system. The student must use the matching entry method.

Follow these steps in order.

  1. Choose the matching sign-in button

A Boom-created classroom uses Sign in with Boom. An imported classroom uses its matching Google, Clever, ClassLink, or LMS launch. If Google students see the setup message, confirm that the teacher imported the classroom first.

  2. Verify the exact Boom username

For Boom sign-in, copy the student's username from the Classes tab. The username may differ from the friendly or display name and must be entered exactly.

  3. Reset the password in the correct system

For a Boom-managed student, use the classroom's student controls to reset the Boom password. For Google, Clever, ClassLink, or another external account, use that system's approved password-recovery process.

  4. Check a blocked external sign-in

If a Google or other external sign-in button does nothing, allow the site-specific pop-up or cookie access required by local policy, then retry in a district-supported browser. Do not disable browser protections broadly.

  5. Regenerate expired access

If the student is using a Fast Pin, QR code, or printed login card, confirm that it belongs to the current classroom and has not expired. Generate or print a new one through the teacher account when appropriate.

Copy-and-paste message for local support

[Student] cannot enter Boom classroom [class name], which was created through [Boom/Google/Clever/ClassLink/Canvas/other]. The student used the matching sign-in method and saw [exact message] at [time]. The username or school identity shown in the class is [approved identifier]. We also tested [browser/device] with result [result]. Please review the classroom import, student identity, and permitted authentication settings.

Stop and escalate when

The correct sign-in method opens the wrong account, the student appears more than once, an imported student is missing, or a school-managed browser blocks authentication. Do not create a second student account as a workaround.
