I Cannot Give a Student a Point in 5-Star Students

Attach the point to a behavior or check the student into an event that awards points.

I am trying to give a student a point in 5-Star Students, but the system will not let me award a point by itself. What am I missing?

Quick Fix

Every point needs a reason. In 5-Star Students, a point cannot be awarded by itself. It must be connected to a behavior or to an event that is worth points.

Choose a behaviorUse this when you are recognizing something the student did, such as demonstrating a school expectation or completing another behavior defined by your school.

Choose an eventUse this when the student earned points by attending or participating in an event that has a point value.

Then follow the matching path.

  1. Select the student

    Open the student from the Manager App, the 5-Star Students website, or your class roster.

  2. Attach a behavior or event

    Assign the appropriate behavior, or check the student into an event that awards points. Do not look for a separate, unattached “give one point” command.

  3. Confirm the selection

    Before submitting, verify the student, behavior or event, and point value. Then complete the award using the option shown in your school's 5-Star Students setup.

If the behavior or event is unavailable

Ask your 5-Star Students site manager which behavior or event you should use and whether your account has permission to award it. The available choices and point values are configured by your school.
