Rule: If Education Program Code does not equal 122, Education Service Code must be blank.
- 3.13 Education Program Code
- 3.18 Education Service Code
Read the two fields together
| Verified student record | Field 3.13 | Field 3.18 |
|---|---|---|
| Title I Part A Targeted participant | 122 | Supported service code 05–13 |
| Another SPRG program | Correct code for that program | Blank |
| Student at a Title I schoolwide school | Do not create 122 solely for schoolwide participation | Blank on unrelated programs |
Do not automatically change field 3.13 to 122. The service code may be the stray value. First determine which program relationship the row is intended to report.
Common causes
- A previous student or program row supplied a carried-forward service value.
- The export populates a default Education Service Code on every SPRG record.
- A local service or intervention field is mapped to CALPADS field 3.18 for all programs.
- The record was intended as Title I Targeted, but field 3.13 contains the wrong program.
- A schoolwide benefit was incorrectly converted into an individual code-122 record.
Recommended correction path
- 1
Identify the intended program
Use authoritative program records—not the rejected combination—to determine what this SPRG row represents.
- 2
Verify the school’s Title I model
If Title I is involved, confirm targeted assistance versus schoolwide status for the reported year.
- 3
Align the fields
For verified targeted-assistance participation, use 122 with the supported service code. For every other program, retain the correct program code and clear field 3.18.
- 4
Repair conditional export logic
Configure the extract so field 3.18 is emitted only when field 3.13 equals 122.
- 5
Resubmit and audit
Check other SPRG records for service values incorrectly attached to non-122 programs.
