Rule: If Education Program Code = 122, Education Service Code must equal 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, or 13.
- 3.13 Education Program Code
- 3.18 Education Service Code
Why the code must describe the actual service
Title I Part A Targeted Assistance is student-level reporting at schools operating a targeted assistance model. The service code describes what Title I-funded help the identified student received. It is not a generic “Title I” marker, a local intervention code, a course code, or a code borrowed from another CALPADS field.
| Submitted condition | Meaning | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| 122 + code 05–13 | Structurally permitted combination | Still verify that the selected service actually occurred |
| 122 + another value | Invalid Title I service code | Use the current code set and service evidence |
| 122 + blank | Missing required service | Populate the supported code or correct the 122 record |
| Schoolwide school | Participation is derived | Do not create individual 122 records |
Do not choose the first code that passes validation. Confirm the service category with the Title I program owner and use the current CALPADS code-set definition.
Recommended correction path
- 1
Verify targeted-assistance status
Confirm the school’s Title I model for the Education Service Academic Year.
- 2
Trace the rejected value
Determine whether the bad value came from a local intervention code, an outdated crosswalk, a different code set, or a formatting loss such as 05 becoming 5.
- 3
Verify delivered service
Match the student to current participant and service records maintained by the Title I program.
- 4
Use the current state value
Translate the documented service to the exact two-character code 05–13. Preserve a leading zero where applicable.
- 5
Correct the system and audit
Repair the source crosswalk, resubmit, and review other records produced by the same mapping.
