STAS0588: Invalid ADA-Generating Independent Study Days

When populated, ADA-Generating Independent Study Days must be less than or equal to Expected Attendance Days Less Days Attended and Days in Attendance In-School Suspension (May be 0)

Official CALPADS rule

Severity: Fatal   Type: Input Validation

Fields validated:

  • 13.15 Expected Attendance Days
  • 13.16 Days Attended In-Person
  • 13.18 Days in Attendance In-School Suspension
  • 13.22 ADA-Generating Independent Study Days

Recommended correction path

  1. 1

    Freeze and reproduce the totals

Capture the student’s STAS row, attendance-history report, enrollment dates, school calendar, attendance codes, independent-study records, and suspension records used by the extract.

  2. 2

    Recalculate from daily evidence

Rebuild the validated totals from the student’s day-level record. Apply local and CALPADS rules consistently for partial days, hourly programs, suspension, independent study, and overlapping absence reasons.

  3. 3

    Check category boundaries

Confirm that in-school suspension is not included in Days Attended In-Person, out-of-school suspension is not counted again as unexcused absence, and independent-study days are placed only in their proper ADA or non-ADA field.

  4. 4

    Correct the authoritative calculation

Fix enrollment calendars, attendance codes, nightly history, period-to-day conversion, independent-study completion, or extract logic. Coordinate attendance staff, discipline staff, independent-study staff, and the SIS owner as applicable.

  5. 5

    Reconcile before certification

Regenerate STAS, verify the equation and field limits, upload the correction, then compare CALPADS Report 14.2 with local attendance totals and investigate other students affected by the same calculation rule.
