Recommended correction path

  1. 1

    Preserve the rejected evidence

Record the submission ID, row number, file name, export time, delimiter, and exact rejected STAS row. Retain an untouched copy for audit and comparison.

  2. 2

    Locate the field precisely

Compare the row with the current STAS layout and the complete validated-field list below. Determine whether the defect is length, character type, integer format, sign, or column count.

  3. 3

    Inspect the attendance extract

Check delimiters, blank positions, decimals, negative signs, embedded returns, stale templates, attendance-history calculations, and local transformations. Confirm that values have not shifted between columns.

  4. 4

    Correct the generator

Repair the authoritative SIS value, attendance configuration, report definition, or crosswalk. Avoid hand-editing only the upload file when the next extract would recreate the error.

  5. 5

    Regenerate and regression-check

Create a scoped STAS file, compare multiple rows field-by-field, upload it, and confirm the correction without a new validation. Search for other students produced by the same rule.

  • Compare CALPADS Report 14.2 with the local attendance-history source.
  • Document whether the defect was student-specific, calendar-wide, code-mapping, configuration, or extract-related.
  • Check other students affected by the same attendance rule before EOY 1 certification.
