2024 CAASPP ELA Student Results Extractor
Create a sortable student-level view of selected ELA and Writing Extended Response fields from a standard 2024 CAASPP Student Score Report, then export the extracted records to Excel.
What this tool is for: Use the extractor when you need a working student-level file containing school, grade, student name, Lexile/Quantile measure, ELA achievement level, writing genre, and combined WER score. For aggregate charts and grade-by-genre comparisons, use the separate 2024 CAASPP WER Score Analyzer.
Required input
- An unmodified Excel workbook using the standard 2024 CAASPP Student Score Report structure
- The report data on the first worksheet
- Standard field names in the second row of that worksheet
- Student records identified with
RecordType01
What the tool produces
- A sortable on-screen student table
- School, grade, student name, Lexile/Quantile measure, ELA achievement level, genre, and combined WER score
- An Excel export with the selected source fields, WER component scores, decoded condition codes, and calculated

Privacy and local-data handling
The selected workbook is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to the SDLA website by this tool. The source and exported workbooks contain student-level information; store, share, and dispose of them according to district privacy and records-management requirements.
How the results are constructed
The extractor retains RecordType 01 rows and converts the numeric ELA achievement level to Not Met, Nearly Met, Met, or Advanced. It calculates WERTOTAL by adding WERPOR, WERDEVEEL, and WERCOV. Condition codes are decoded in the Excel export.
Interpret carefully: The combined WER value is a convenient summary of the reported writing-trait fields. It is not a separate CAASPP proficiency determination and should not be treated as proof that a student has mastered or failed a particular writing skill. Confirm consequential interpretations against official assessment records and current guidance.
