Special Education Assessment

The Adaptive Behavior Assessment System, Third Edition (ABAS-3) is a standardized rating scale that measures practical, social, and conceptual skills used in everyday life from infancy through older adulthood. Parent, caregiver, teacher, and adult forms describe what an individual typically does without assistance across home, school, work, and community settings.

Qualified teams may use ABAS-3 results as one part of an evaluation involving developmental delay, intellectual disability, autism, learning or neuropsychological conditions, and other support needs. The system produces skill-area, domain, and General Adaptive Composite scores; results must be interpreted with other records, observations, assessments, and legal requirements rather than used alone.

Goalbook Toolkit is an instructional planning and job-embedded professional-learning resource for educators serving students with varied learning needs. It provides standards-aligned present-level examples, measurable learning goals, instructional strategies, and Universal Design for Learning supports that educators adapt to individual students.

Goalbook can improve the quality and efficiency of IEP goals and specially designed instruction, but it is not a standardized special education assessment or a complete IEP compliance system. It belongs under Instruction / Curriculum, Professional Development, or IEP Goal and Instructional Planning rather than Special Education Assessment.
