Request an Unlisted CAASPP Accessibility Resource Early
An individualized request process for a student who needs a resource not already identified in the current California Accessibility Resources Matrix.
In Plain Language: First exhaust the current matrix and confirm the pupil routinely uses the resource for instruction. If it is truly unlisted, submit the complete TOMS request with enough time for review and do not use it until authorized.
Why this matters
An unlisted request is not a shortcut around the IEP/504 or instructional decision. Late or vague submissions can leave the pupil without practiced access or create an unauthorized administration.
Primary ownership
Primary owner: LEA CAASPP coordinator with the pupil’s educational team. Partners: IEP/504 team, teacher, parent/student, assistive technology, site coordinator, and test administrator/examiner.
Operational workflow
- 1. Review the current matrix and pupil plan/instructional use.
- 2. Consult the educational team and identify why listed resources are insufficient.
- 3. Submit complete TOMS documentation at least two weeks before testing.
- 4. Track the decision; configure and let the pupil practice only as authorized.
- 5. Retain approval/denial and verify the exact resource on testing day.
