Post Notice of the Instructional-Materials Sufficiency Hearing
The public-access prerequisite for the annual Williams sufficiency hearing, requiring correct content, timing, posting locations, and an accessible meeting time.
In Plain Language: Post a notice stating the hearing time, place, and purpose in at least three public places at least ten calendar days beforehand; schedule the hearing during the statutory window and not during or immediately after school hours.
Why this matters
Improper notice can invalidate an otherwise substantive hearing and lead to an audit finding; ordinary board-agenda posting may not satisfy the three-place and ten-calendar-day rules.
Primary ownership
Primary owner: curriculum and instructional-materials lead. Governance owner: governing board and board office. Partners: principals, teachers, enrollment, EL, special education and accessibility, IT, library and textbook staff, procurement, fiscal, high-school science, legal, and auditors.
Operational workflow
- 1. Calculate the hearing, eighth-week, and notice deadlines from the actual first pupil day.
- 2. Draft the notice with exact time, place, purpose, accessible participation, and language access.
- 3. Post in at least three public places at least ten calendar days before the hearing.
- 4. Document each posting location and date with the posted version, photograph, or affidavit.
- 5. Retain proof with the hearing and resolution audit file.
