In Plain Language: Build the report from preserved October counts and the closed verification log, separate direct-certification categories correctly, enter only NSLP/SBP verification activity, clear CNIPS errors, select Finish, and preserve evidence that the saved report is complete.

Why this matters

The report supports federal oversight and California’s direct-certification performance rate. A report can be wrong even when household cases were handled correctly if counts use the wrong date, duplicate pupils, include SUN Bucks activity, or omit exempt/CEP sites.

Primary ownership

Primary owner: SFA verification reporting official/CNIPS administrator. Partners: eligibility staff, direct-certification/CALPADS staff, nutrition director, enrollment/data analyst, POS vendor, fiscal, and authorized representative.

Operational workflow

  1. 1. Open the current CNIPS Verification Report instructions and build a field-by-field source crosswalk.
  2. 2. Reconcile October enrollment, approved eligibility, direct certification/CalFresh, exempt-site, sample, response, and outcome counts.
  3. 3. Compare totals to the October 1 universe and final November 15 case log; investigate duplicates and category mismatches.
  4. 4. Enter the report, resolve every Saved with Errors message, review independently, and select Finish.
  5. 5. Retain the final report/output and source workbook by January 15.
