Operate the LEA-Selected CAASPP Administration Window

A daily execution and completion process for the assigned Smarter Balanced, CAST, CAA ELA/mathematics, and CSA window.

  • CAASPP
  • Assessment
Date(s)From the LEA-selected start through the last day of school or June 30, 2027, whichever comes first
Applies toEligible pupils and schools assigned to the LEA’s CAASPP window; assessment-specific eligibility applies

In Plain Language: Administer each applicable assessment within the assigned window, monitor completion and incidents daily, provide make-ups, and reconcile every eligible pupil before the window closes.

Why this matters

The window concentrates student data, devices, trained staff, accessibility settings, security, attendance, and communications. Weak daily exception management becomes unexplained nonparticipation.

Primary ownership

Primary owner: LEA CAASPP coordinator with site coordinators. Partners: CALPADS, special education, technology, test administrators/examiners, attendance, curriculum, and families.

Operational workflow

  1. 1. Freeze a current eligible roster and verify assessment/settings by pupil.
  2. 2. Complete site, staff, device, secure-browser, room, material, security, and communication preflight.
  3. 3. Administer with active monitoring; record attendance, interruptions, and incidents.
  4. 4. Run daily pupil/test completion exceptions and schedule make-ups.
  5. 5. Before closeout, reconcile CALPADS, TOMS, exemptions, incidents, and final status.
