Why this matters

Unapproved or inaccurate application data can block claims and can place the wrong sites, programs, counting methods, contacts, or review information into the state record.

Primary owner: school nutrition director/CNIPS application administrator. Partners: authorized representative, fiscal, site managers, enrollment/eligibility staff, procurement, facilities, IT/POS, and the assigned SNP specialist.

Operational workflow

  1. 1. Download and use the current 2026–27 CNIPS Annual Update instructions.
  2. 2. Reconcile sponsor contacts, authorized representatives, programs, sites, calendars, meal service, counting/claiming methods, contracts, and certification responses.
  3. 3. Complete all required packet sections and investigate validation errors rather than bypassing them.
  4. 4. Obtain internal review and submit the complete packet for CDE approval.
  5. 5. Monitor status, answer returned questions, correct resubmissions, and retain the approved packet before filing claims.
