In Plain Language: Reconcile eligible operating days, meal counts, enrollment and eligibility inputs, adjustments, and supporting records for September 2026; enter the claim in CNIPS; complete independent review; and certify it by November 30, 2026.

Why this matters

Certification is the sponsor’s assertion that the claim is complete, accurate, supported, and ready for payment. Errors can delay reimbursement, create overclaims, require recovery, or surface later in administrative review or audit.

Primary ownership

Primary owner: nutrition services claim preparer and authorized CNIPS certifier. Partners: site meal-count staff, point-of-sale/data system owner, eligibility staff, business services, fiscal/accounts receivable, calendar/enrollment contacts, and independent reviewer.

Operational workflow

  1. 1. Lock the September 2026 reporting period and obtain final site/day/meal-category source reports.
  2. 2. Validate operating days, attendance/calendar exceptions, eligibility categories, meal-count edits, and nonreimbursable activity.
  3. 3. Reconcile site totals to the consolidated claim, prior corrections, CNIPS entries, and expected fiscal receivable.
  4. 4. Route exceptions to the originating site or system owner and document every correction.
  5. 5. Have an authorized reviewer approve and certify by November 30, 2026; retain the submitted claim and confirmation.
