In Plain Language: After the annual interim-system rollover, verify access and rosters, complete any outstanding prior-year hand scoring before deletion, and start current-year use only through an approved local plan.

Why this matters

Availability is not a mandate to test. Interim assessments are most useful when educators know why they are administering them, how results will inform instruction, and what security/privacy controls apply.

Primary owner: local assessment/curriculum lead. Partners: TOMS users, teachers, EL staff, special education, technology, privacy, and professional learning.

Operational workflow

  1. 1. Close prior-year hand scoring and preserve needed results before downtime.
  2. 2. After August 4, verify current roles, rosters, systems, browsers, and CERS access.
  3. 3. Define instructional question, pupil group, assessment, timing, scoring, and follow-up.
  4. 4. Train users on administration, security, accessibility, and result interpretation.
  5. 5. Monitor use and whether results produce the intended instructional action.
