A free, comprehensive middle-school science curriculum organized around coherent phenomenon-based storylines, investigation, modeling, discussion, data analysis, explanation, engineering, assessment, and three-dimensional learning.

OpenSciEd Middle School is an open educational curriculum developed through an 18-month, teacher- and student-informed unit design process. Six sequenced units per grade engage students in explaining phenomena and solving problems through investigation, modeling, evidence, discussion, reading, writing, engineering, and assessment while integrating NGSS disciplinary core ideas, practices, and crosscutting concepts.
