Invalid Incident Result Code and Grade Level Combination for Student Offense Code 511 (disruption, defiance)

Error Description

Students in Grades TD, IN, PS, KN, 1-3 should not be suspended for disruption or defiance (Student offense code = 511)

Suggested Resolution

Understanding the Error:
Ed Code 48900(k)(1) states that being disruptive and/or defiant shall not be grounds for suspension if the student is in grades KN, 1 through 3.  However, under Education Code section 48900 (k)(2) teachers may suspend students as authorized by EC section 48910 for disruption or defiance (Student Offense Code = 511). LEAs receiving this warning should check that the data are accurate. 
If the data are accurate, the LEA should check that the reported suspensions were made under EC section 48910; if not, the LEA should review its processes to ensure students re not inappropriately suspended for disruption or defiance.
 
Things to check for in submission: Check the values of the fields listed in the fields validated section. 
 
Suggested Resolution:
Change the Student Offense Code or the Incident Result Code if appropriate.
