Overview

Overview

Big Ideas Math is Big Ideas Learning’s print and digital mathematics curriculum. Teachers use sequenced lessons, examples, explorations, practice, assessment, and digital tools across courses from middle-grade mathematics through advanced high school.

Lessons and digital practice generate evidence within a course sequence. Teachers connect performance reports with student explanations and local grading decisions across the adopted mathematics program. The adopted edition and implementation determine the available digital records. Curriculum teams and teachers coordinate materials, access, and the interpretation of locally assessed work.

How it supports learning

  • Teachers use sequenced lessons, examples, explorations, practice, assessment, and digital tools across courses from middle-grade mathematics through advanced high school.
  • Teachers should connect use to explicit learning goals and inspect student work rather than rely on completion or engagement alone.

Implementation and instructional decisions

  • Identify the exact course, edition, state adoption, and digital platform; implementation should include discourse, reasoning, intervention, and support beyond assigned exercises.
  • Districts should confirm accessibility, language support, student-data practices, assignment workflow, reporting, and the continuing role of teacher judgment.
