DataZone is a data warehouse and analytics service operated by the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Participating agencies use the county-operated shared service to bring information together for student-level analysis, reporting, and improvement work.
Participating agencies’ source data becomes a shared county-operated analytical resource. District and county stewards coordinate matching, definitions, access, and refresh cycles so combined views retain their local meaning. The same label can describe different measures or populations in different systems. Source definitions and reporting dates preserve the meaning of an apparent trend or comparison.
A shared analytical record influences program review and leadership decisions even though corrections often belong in the source system. Data teams coordinate refresh schedules, access, definitions, and a path for resolving discrepancies. Readers need to understand which data is represented, how current it is, and what an aggregate or student-level view can legitimately explain.

Managed data warehouse
- Centralizes district, state, assessment, and approved partner data with county-office operations and security.
- Removes much of the local server, ETL, monitoring, and maintenance burden from member districts.
Analytics and reporting
- Provides TK–12 dashboards, longitudinal trends, accountability measures, student profiles, and role-based drill-down.
- SMART supports ad-hoc reports, saved views, early warning, and monitored student groups.
Student support applications
- MTSS tracks interventions and progress; SEL collects and analyzes wellness indicators.
- CARE validates CALPADS submissions, while FosterVision+ and Service Link support cross-agency services.
Data exchange and partnership
- Enables governed exchanges with feeder schools, community organizations, health systems, and county agencies.
- Uses a shared-service and capacity-building model across districts and county offices rather than a conventional standalone software sale.
