Student Grade Level is outside the designated grade span for the school.

Error Description

A grade level was submitted for a student that is outside the grade level range offered by the school. Students with a valid special education program record are not included in the grade level validation.

Suggested Resolution

Understanding the Error: The batch SENR or online submission contains a grade level for a student that is outside the range of grade levels offered by the School of Attendance and the students is NOT in a special education program, (special education students have a SPRG record with Education Program Code = 144). Things to check for in submission: Verify that the grade level entered in field 2.32 is within the range of that which is offered by the school the student is attending.

NOTE:  This error was reduced from a FATAL to a WARNING on October 3rd, 2017.

Suggested Resolution:

1) If the Grade Level is incorrectly populated, change it so the correct value is submitted to CALPADS OR

2) If the Grade Level is correctly populated, verify a valid CDS value of the school is entered in the School of Attendance field. OR

3) If CDE’s record of the lowest and/or highest grade offered is out of date, please contact your LEA's CDS-Admin and ask that the CDE's database record for grade-span offered be updated. The LEA CDS admin will update CDE's database through the OPUS-CDS Internet application. NOTE: Grade Levels "IN", "TD", "PS", "US", "UE", "AD", and "UU" are not included in the validation.
