CALPADS Update FLASH #169

FlashUpdate

Disabling of the Student Discipline File on February 25, 2020

In preparation for implementing the new student incident files for the 2019–20 End-of-Year (EOY) 3 submission, the current Student Discipline (SDIS) file and User Interface will be disabled on February 25, 2020. Therefore, beginning February 25, 2020, LEAs will not be able to:

  • Update historical SDIS information through batch or online.
  • View Student Detail Discipline and historical Incident Discipline data in the CALPADS User Interface.
  • Access Operational Data Store (ODS) versions of the discipline reports (reports 7.xx).

Therefore, any updates to student discipline data in prior years in the CALPADS Operational Data Store must be made prior to February 25, 2020. LEAs will continue to have access to prior-year discipline reports that were certified as part of EOY 3.

Beginning with the 2019–20 EOY 3 submission, LEAs will certify reports that reflect the data submitted on the Student Incident (SINC), the Student Incident Result (SIRS), and the Student Offense (SOFF) files.

Career Technical Education Data Postsecondary Status Survey Template

On January 24, 2020, the CDE sent out on the CALPADS listserv, a communication and a student survey template that LEAs could use for collecting Career Technical Education (CTE) postsecondary status data for CTE completers who were in the 2018–19 four-year Adjusted Cohort Graduation Rate (ACGR). That communication and survey template will be posted soon on the CDE CALPADS Communications web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/ds/sp/cl/communications.asp, under the Topic Specific Correspondence heading. [Update, Jan. 29, 2020: The Jan. 24, 2020 communication to LEAs, which includes links to the survey template instructions and template, is now posted on the CALPADS Communications page. Here is a direct link to the letter and survey template: http://staging.cde.ca.gov/ds/sp/cl/ctedata201819cohort.asp.]

The data collected through this survey will be used to meet reporting requirements for federal Perkins 5, the CTE Incentive Grant (CTEIG), and the Strong Workforce Program (SWP). It should be noted that this year, LEAs will have to report some of the survey data in CALPADS on the Postsecondary Status (PSTS) file, and some of the survey data in a Snap Survey, which can be found here: https://surveys2.cde.ca.gov/go/ctecompleters2018-19.asp. Beginning next year, (Fall 2 2020–21), all CTE completer postsecondary status data will be reported in CALPADS.
